This week Mihaela writes:

Hello,

Having read your website very carefully, and as an intern for a publishing house, I would like to take this chance to ask you for some help. My question is: can a publishing house create its own ads or does it need a distributor in order to legally do this?

Thank you very much for your assistance,

Mihaela

Hi Mihaela,

Thanks for your email.

You would have to check the terms of your agreement with the distributor as sometimes they take on the publicity as well as distribution, and want to retain control of the marketing.

If you don't have anything in a contract with a distributor, you should absolutely start advertising the book - at least three months before it is published.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes,

Julie
