Thanks to all for the good wishes (hi to the Saucy Sistas who stopped by. Welcome!).
Well, we managed to get into town again and meet our friends on Saturday evening. We’re back at home for dentist’s appointments and a laundry run and will be doing more touristy stuff with friends again soon.
We’re set up with a Dodge Durango now, until our car comes home.
As I drove it off the rental lot this morning I pulled up behind our not-so-little sedan and felt…large.
“Mwah-hah-hah!” I bellowed to no-one in particular as I followed my husband and children home. “I am mighty. You are teeny and puny! Let me roll right over the top of you, tiny foreign car!”
Hmm, wonder what percentage of accidents are caused by over-confident SUV drivers?
Yes, I wonder! You take care in that big car! You don’t want to find out what it feels like to be the one causing the accident.

I suspect many accidents are caused by overconfident SUV drivers! When I was still in TV, one of our photographers caught a spectacular wipeout on an icy road. A Ford Explorer was speeding during an ice/snow storm over a highway overpass. The driver lost control, rolled down the hill flipping a couple of times. The photographer ran to check on the guy, who was surprisingly fine. The network went NUTS and ended up doing a whole investigation on overconfident SUV drivers because there was a number of crashes that winter. CRAZY!
I still kind of want one though. Not one of the big gas guzzlers… maybe a Honda CRV or a Toyota Highlander… the mom-friendly SUV!
